Some folks in Australia have scolded my idleness in keeping recent pictures posted. I don't blame here either.....he's quite cute...and changing ever so slightly with each day. A quick rundown of Sid's first full week at home:
I'm finding that taking care of a baby is more about managing poop than anything. Little Sid has a propensity to fire his bowels the second that I remove his dirty diaper. This wouldn't really be a problem accept that the kid has a hauwitzer for a backside! No person or thing lying within 10 feet is safe! It is truly spectacular.
On a slightly less gross note, he really is a dream baby. He rarely fusses or cries, eats well, sleeps well and appears to enjoy his baths. I'm trying to get Rowe on here to write about her experience with the birth and everything so far, but she's been pretty busy. Hopefully soon! Here are some recent pictures that we took today. We wanted to have my parents, who have been staying with us for the week to take some family photos. He wasn't really cooperative and slept through the whole process. He's pretty cute when he sleeps though. Enjoy.

more Sid
I couldn't resist puting these pictures up.
We just returned home a few hours ago from the Hospital. It is a lot more comfortable for Rowe here and Sid is getting accustomed to his new living space. Rowe is doing great! She is recovering so fast......The Champ!

Sid has arrived
I suppose that a little bit more information is warranted at this point So here's what happened:
We had an appointment on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM. The midwives decided to strip her membranes and see if that would send her into labor. It seemed to do the trick. By 1:00 she was having pretty strong contractions every 3 minutes or so. At about 7:00 the conractions intensified enough that we decided to head to the hospital. This is where the heroics began. Rowe labored from about 8:00pm-4:30 AM in order to fully dialate. She pushed for about 3 hours and whazamm.......8 pound baby! OK it wasn't as easy as that made it sound. It was INTENSE! I've never quite experienced anything like that before. I'm sure that Rowe will give you her version a bit later. But needless to say, she lived up to her name - CHAMP on this one. She managed 18 hours of labor without medication which is pretty incredible (and absolutely insane if I might add). I might also add that she twice tried to bite my nipples off. I'm not sure why, but both times, when she realized what she was doing, was instantly apolagetic.
So what are we left with now: An absolutely beautiful little boy! I guess the real adventure starts now. So far he's happy and healthy. He's breast feeding really well and he's cute as ever. Here are a few pictures. The picture of Sid and Rowe happened about 15 seconds after he came out!
I'm not sure that I can even begin to describe what just happened. So......until I can get my wits about me and put everything together, i'll post some quick pics right now. Let's just say it was by far the most traumatic, surreal, peaceful, exhausting, and fulfilling day of my life (all at the same time). Wow!!!!
